Carlos Bocanegra and Racing Santander look to start 2013 off with a victory over streaking Ponferradina on Saturday.

Racing Santander - Ponferradina

Carlos Bocanegra and Racing Santander look to rebound from a terrible first half of the season with a win when they welcome Ponferradina this weekend.

Santander currently sit in 21st place, squarely in the relegation zone and need a good start to the second half of the season to avoid their second drop in two years.

Ponferradina are currently in sixth place halfway through the season. They have also won four straight and finished 2012 steadily climbing up the league standings.

Racing will have to do without Alex Goikoetxea, who was injured in Racing's last match of 2012. They are also without head coach José Aurelio Gay, who was hit with a three match suspension after being ejected against Guadalajara in the same match for making disparaging remarks to the officials.

They'll also be missing Alergian midfielder Hameur Bouazza for several weeks, who has left the club to participate in the African Cup of Nations.

Ponferradina will be without Matthew Adam Miguez, who is recovering from surgery, Juande Prados, who suffered a knee injury in their last game and Adolfo Fofo, who sprained his knee in training earlier this week.

Oguchi Onyewu and Málaga start off 2013 with a visit to Deportivo La Coruña. The Anchovies sit in fourth place, while the Blues and Whites sit in last place in La Liga.
