Carlos Bocanegra and Racing earned a point on the road against Guadalajara but are still well within the relegation zone in Spain's Segunda division.
Guadalajara 1 -1 Racing
Carlos Bocanegra and Racing Santander were looking to break their six game losing streak when they visited Guadalajara on Saturday but were forced to share the points.
Racing started things off quickly when Mamadou Koné scored in the sixth minute, putting the visitor's in position to get a vital away win. However, just over 20 mintues later, Guadalajara's Vincente Pérez ensured a draw when he drilled a low shot past Racing keeper Mario Fernández.
Bocanegra went the full 90 minutes as he seems to be back to full match health following his hamstring injury. The physical match saw a total of eight yellow cards although no one was sent off.
Going in to the winter break, Racing find themselves in 21st place with 15 points and in danger of relegation. Racing will likely be active during the transfer window as they look to avoid relegation for the second straight season. Their next match is January 5th when they host Ponferradina.
Oguchi Onyewu was an unused substitute as Málaga beat Real Madrid 3-2 on Saturday. Their next match is also on January 5th when they take on Deportivo La Coruña.
