Anderlecht clinched their eighth league win in a row as Dieumerci Mbokani put a pair past Leuven on Sunday evening in Brussels.
Sacha Kljestan went the distance for les Mauves but Mbokani was the star as he scored in both halves. Sawaneh Ibou bagged his 14th of the season for OHL.
In the 24th minute Leuven defender Günther Vanaudenaerde handled the ball in his 18 yard box, which allowed Anderlecht's Congolese striker to put the ball on the sport and fire it past Logan Bailly, although the Belgian keeper did get his hand to it.
Two minutes before the intermission the visitor's found themselves on level terms when the 21 year old striker Thomas Azevedo caught Anderlehct's defense napping and slipped the ball to his striker partner Ibou. The Gambian then slipped the ball under Silvio Proto between the Anderlecht pipes.
The eventual game winner came only four minutes after the re-start. This time Anderlecht's teenager Massimo Bruno provided the assist that Mbokani put past Bailly.
The win keeps les Mauves in first place and still with a six point cushion after second place Zulte-Waregem beat Genk. Next Sunday Anderlecht will travel to Genk and hope to do better than the 2-2 tie against the Limburg team back in September.
