RECAP: PERTH 1 - 1 WELLINGTON
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
ANDREW VORCE - Monday, November 26, 2012
Alex Smith went the distance as Wellington Phoenix battled to a hard-fought draw on the road against Perth Glory.

The home team enjoyed the ball in the first half with Billy Mehmet having a decent look on goal, but being unable to truly test Mark Paston. Shane Smeltz tried to follow up that attempt but was only able to head the rebound wide.

Smeltz made up for his earlier error in the second half as Perth were the first on the score board. Mehmet was again the assist man as he flicked on a long ball out of the back, but Smeltz still had it all to do. Taking on the Phoenix center backs, Smeltz dribbled his way free before smacking a shot leaving Paston helpless on his six yard box.

Phoenix leveled through equal fashion with another flicked header being the key to unlock the defense. This time Jeremie Brockie was on the receiving end and deftly flicked the ball around Steve Pantelidis before sprinting straight at Danny Vukovic. The Perth keeper tried to close down the angle, but Brockie kept his cool by slotting his shot under the keeper.

Phoenix next match up against Western Sydney Wanderers on December 2nd at Westpac Stadium.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
