JAMIE HILL - Wednesday, October 10, 2012
The injury-battered US squad suffered another blow on Wednesday when Fabian Johnson was ruled out of the qualifier against Antigua and Barbuda with the flu.

In a press release, the USSF announced that Johnson will join the team in Kansas City in hopes that he will recover in time for the match against Guatemala on October 16.

"Fabian has been ill since the weekend, and we were waiting to see if he would be healthy enough to join us in Miami," said US manager Jurgen Klinsmann. "At this point, it is in everyone's best interest to allow him to fully recover from his illness and come into Kansas City ready to play against Guatemala."

Klinsmann's 24-man roster has been quickly reduced to 20 as Landon Donovan, Brek Shea, and Edgar Castillo have also withdrawn from camp with injury in the last two days.

No replacements have thus far been named.

I agree Lichaj should be called in however, jk may go with someone who won't need to travel far and experience SO I wouldn't be surprised to see Heath Pearce called in if his club will release him. Mid-field could use Feilhaber and/or Torres. A surprise choice at defense could be Austin Berry. I like how he plays. risky though first cap during wcq. BIG QUESTION - if Chandler REALLY wanted to be part of USMNT now's his chance to call jk and say "Hey how can I help?" don't hold your breath though

I agree! where is Lichaj?! IMO he played well in the Gold Cup (I believe that is the last time he saw significant playing time with the Nats). Please not Spector. Never been a fan. And not sure why he would call Boyd in at this point. That doesn't make much sense to me. Let's be honest....doubt anyone else gets called up though...

With 2 LB out, shouldn't Klinsman give Lichaj a call???
