BRIAN SCIARETTA - Friday, August 10, 2012
American midfielder Alejandro Bedoya has signed a short term contract with reigning Swedish champions Helsingborg that will run through the end of the Swedish season.

Bedoya, 25, will depart the financially troubled Rangers FC and return to Sweden where he enjoyed success with Orebro from 2009 through 2011.

"He is signing for Helsingborg right now," agent Patrick Mork told YA on Friday. "They will either be playing in the Champions League or the Europa League group stages."

Helsingborg will face off against Celtic later this month in a Champions League playoff and if they win, they will be in the group stages. If they lose, they will go to the Europa League group stages.

In the current 2012 Allsvenskan season, Helsingborg currently sit in sixth place with 28 points through 17 games. They trail leaders Elfsborg by seven points.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
