BRIAN SCIARETTA - Monday, July 30, 2012
After a successful trial earlier this month, LA Galaxy forward Chad Barrett will head to Norwegian Eliteserien club Valerenga on loan.

The loan will run through the end of the 2012 Eliteserien season and Valerenga will hold an option to buy Barrett's contract afterward.

"Chad Barrett will be going on loan to Valerenga through the end of the Norwegian season," Barrett's agent Patrick McCabe told YA. "Valerenga will hold an option to buy."

Valerenga finished the 2011 Tippeligaen season in seventh place and through the first 15 games of the 2012 season, they sit in sixth place with 25 points through 17 games.

Barrett, 27, has spent his entire professional career in MLS when he was drafted by Chicago with the third overall pick in the 2005 Superdraft.

He played with Chicago through 2008 when he was traded to Toronto. In 2011 he was traded again to the Galaxy. He has scored 32 MLS goals in 192 games.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
