Cobresol's rough 2012 season in the Peruvian Primera continued on Saturday after they squandered a lead at home against Universitario and settled for a draw.

American winger Diego Chavarri started for Cobresol and had was very active in Cobresol's attack before he was subbed out in the 81st minute.

After a scoreless first half, Cobresol took the lead in the 61st minute when, after a foul was called on Chavarri, Francisco Hernandez drilled a well placed free kick past Universitario goalkeeper Carlos Caceda for a 1-0 lead.

The lead, however, was short lived. In the 70th minute Universitario's Andy Polo sent in a cross from the right wing that found Miguel Ximenez in the box. Cobresol keeper Michael Sotillo came up with a nice save on Ximenez's header but Edison Flores was able to pounce on the rebound from just a few feet out and even the score at 1-1.

While Cobresol earned a point, they remain in last place where they trail the next closest team by 10 points.

Cobresol return to action on Wednesday when they visit ninth place Leon de Huanuco at Estadio Heraclio Tapia.
