CHRISTOPHER MCCOLLUM - Friday, July 6, 2012
One-time USA international Charlie Davies has left France and will join Randers FC of the Danish Superliga.

"Charlie has signed a two year deal with Randers," agent Lyle Yorks confirmed to YA. "After a week of discussions with Sochaux we came to a mutual agreement on terms to terminate his final year of the contract which paved the way for today's signing."

Davies will join his fourth team after stints at Hammarby in Sweden, Sochaux and DC United - where he spent the 2011 campaign on loan for his first true action since the fatal drunk driving accident which nearly claimed his life in October 2009.

After Davies' loan with DC United came to an end, the American returned to France to rejoin Sochaux's reserve squad. Davies was named to the match-day roster five times, but only made two appearances for 23 minutes.

Randers, who are coming off of a successful promotion campaign in Denmark's second division will rejoin the Superliga where they qualified for the Europa League/UEFA Cup three times since being founded in 2003. Randers was home to New England Revolution surprise Lee Nguyen in the 2008/09 season.

Denmark currently hosts a number of prominent American players in Michael Parkhurst, Clarence Goodson, and rising prospect Conor O'Brien.

Davies and Randers will begin their 2012/13 season against O'Brien and Sonderjyske on July 14.

Hopefully he can develop the proper mindset. Goal.com did an article outlining his apparent frustrations manifesting in a finger-pointing reputation.
