Cobresol have had a difficult season in Peru but American Diego Chavarri helped the team earn a valuable point on Wednesday when they rallied for a draw at home against Juan Aurich.

The oft-injured New York City native Diego Chavarri started the game on the left wing and played 64 minutes. It was just his fifth appearance and second start of the season. He has missed most of the last 12 months with various leg injuries.

In the 35th minute Chavarri put Cobresol up 1-0 when made a nice move into the box on the left side but was brought down by Juan Aurich goalkeeper Diego Penny. Chavarri make no mistake with the ensuing penalty when he shot high and left past Penny who had guessed the wrong way. It was his first goal of the year.

The lead only lasted three minutes, however, when Juan Aurich's Luis Tejada headed a free kick past Cobresol keeper Michael Anthony Sotillo in the 38th minute to even the score at 1-1

In the 77th minute Juan Aurich took the lead when Tejada was brought down in the box. He elected to take the penalty himself and blasted it past Sotillo for a 2-1 lead.

Cobresol appeared to be headed for yet another loss but Carlos Flores managed to rescue the beleaguered club in the third minute of injury time when he headed home a corner kick past Penny to secure the draw.

Cobresol are still in 16th and last place in Peru's Primera Division and they trail 15th place Sport Boys by five points.

Cobresol's next game is this Sunday when they visit ninth place Melgar.
