BRIAN SCIARETTA - Monday, April 2, 2012
US U-20 head coach Tab Ramos today announced a 24 player roster for an upcoming camp in Portland, Oregon and it will feature top players like Luis Gil, Will Packwood, and Juan Ocegueda.

The camp will run from April 9 through April 16 and the team will play two games during that time. The first game will be against the University of Portland on April 12 and the second game will take place on April 15 against an opponent not yet determined.

Eight players on the roster play professionally with four playing abroad. Mexican club Santos Laguna is sending two players in Benji Joya and Daniel Cuevas. Highly rated left back Juan Pablo Ocegueda will also attend while Birmingham City's Will Packwood is the only European based player on the roster.

There are some notable players missing from this camp but that is likely due to club commitments. The major examples are Villyan Bijev who is on loan from Liverpool to Fortuna Dusseldorf, Hertha Berlin's John Anthony Brooks, and Sean Cunningham who is on loan from Molde to Stabaek.

Ipswich Town's Cody Cropper and Liverpool's Marc Pelosi are still recovering from injury.

Ramos has had three camps so far in 2012 as they build towards the 2013 U-20 World Cup next year in Turkey. Qualifying for that tournament will begin in early 2013.

@Hugh...I agree with all of your points. Sadly Hurzeler is pretty much locked in with Germany which is too bad because he has great potential. as for Hines they just need for him to file his one-time-switch paper work.

On another note I'm excited to see what this crop of U20 players can do. With guys like Pelosi, Gil, Bijev, Salgado, Koroma, Guido etc. They could make some noise at the U20 WC assuming they qualify

If USA Senior Team qualified for World Cup 2014 in Brazil, how would they do , if they were paired with England, Rep.of Ireland , Belgium , USA?

Or if they are grouped with Brazil, Serbia, Rep.of Ireland and USA ?
Or England, Turkey, Chile, USA ? Or Spain, Norway, Zambia and USA ?

I would like to see Whitebread, Hines, ADU, Potts, Henley, Huzeler , Boyd, George, Wooten , and Lijcah involved for World Cup 2014.

These players need to be playing every week for the next 2 years.
I trust Klinnsmann, he has a trick up his sleeve. USA got in to knock out stages before in past World Cups before Klinnsmann arrived.

Are there any Italian born Americans Spanish born Americans , French born Americans similar to geramericans ?

Good Luck to USA at World Cup 2014 Brazil. Yours in sport Hugh
