SCOTT PETERSON - Saturday, December 3, 2011
Michael Bradley and Chievo Verona will be locked in a Serie A showdown with Atalanta as Chievo look to get back on the winning track against last year's Serie B champions on Sunday.

Last time out Domenico di Carlo's Flying Donkeys were thoroughly sunk at the hands of AC Milan so it is imperative that the Mussi Volanti get something from their match against promoted Atalanta to avoid drawing any closer to the murky waters of the drop zone.

Chievo are currently in 11th place with 15 points from 13 matches. However, it is quite congested at the bottom-end of the standings with just five points separating Verona from the relegation zone.

Di Carlo will have to compensate for the loss of central midfielder Luca Rigoni, who has started all but one match thus far for the Veronans, as he picked up an injury to his left flexor tendon leaving him sidelined for a month.

Chievo's opponents come into the match after tying Napoli last week. Atalanta has one point less than Chievo, but currently sits in 13th place.

Atalanta's head coach Stefano Colantuono will also have to retool his midfield as Matias Schelotto is out after picking up his fifth yellow card a week ago.

On Atalanta's midfield, however, is not where Chievo should be concentrating. Striker German Gustavo Denis has been in impeccable form this season, almost single-handedly keeping Atalanta in the hunt to stay up. The diminutive Argentine has already notched ten goals for a team that has a total of 16.

Kick-off is slated for Sunday afternoon in Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.
