BRIAN SCIARETTA - Monday, November 21, 2011
Brad Friedel and Tottenham Hotspur cruised to victory over Aston Villa in Monday Premier League action.
Friedel started and went the distance as he has all season for Tottenham.
It was Emmanuel Adebayor who was the hero for the Spurs on Monday, as he scored both goals for the red hot London team.
The first goal came in the 14th minute, when Adebayor scissor kicked home a deflected Gareth Bale ball from ten yards.
Tottenham continued their strong form throughout the first half and finally broke through for another goal in the 40th minute.
Villa's James Collins could not clear a Bale cross, causing goalie Shay Given to misplay the ball. The ball got to Adebayor who easily slotted home from one yard out.
Spurs controlled the game throughout, having a decisive lead in possession and shots on goal. Friedel was credited with just one save in the whole game.
Chris Herd and Stiliyan Petrov were booked for Aston Villa.
Spurs now jump to third in the standings, trailing only both Manchester teams.
Tottenham takes on West Bromwich Albion next weekend, while Villa tries to bounce back against Swansea City.
