JOHN KRETLOW - Friday, November 18, 2011
Tim Howard and Everton look for victory as they take on Wolverhampton, while Clint Dempsey and Fulham take on Sunderland and hope to distance themselves from the relegation zone.
Everton - Wolverhampton Wanderers
Tim Howard and Everton host Wolverhampton Wanderers in a Premier League clash at Goodison Park.
Howard is fresh off two national team games and will start for Everton once again this weekend.
Having just won just one in their last seven total games, Everton are looking to get a victory and change their season. They are currently just above the relegation zone.
Wolves have won just one game in their last seven. The one win came last week against Wigan Athletic.
Kevin Foley and Ronald Zubar are likely to miss for Wolves because of injury.
Everton's Phil Jagielka is suffering from a toe injury but the defender could still feature.
Tottenham Hotspurs - Aston Villa
Brad Friedel and Tottenham take on Aston Villa in Monday Premier League action.
Friedel has been the preferred starter for Tottenham this season and will get the start against Villa.
Americans Brad Guzan and Eric Lichaj will not feature for Villa.
Spurs are currently in fourth place in the Premier League but are within striking distance of third place Newcastle. They are currently on a six game league unbeaten streak.
Manager Harry Redknapp could return to the sidelines for Tottenham after having undergone a heart procedure last month.
Villa beat Norwich City in their last league game and will want to continue that form on Monday. Prior to that victory they had gone winless in three games straight.
Spurs' Rafael van der Vaart is a game time decision after he suffered from a hamstring injury while playing for the Netherlands. Niko Kranjcar, Danny Rose, Michael Dawson, and Tom Huddlestone will all be out due to injury.
Sunderland - Fulham
Clint Dempsey looks to help Fulham as they take on Sunderland in Saturday Premier League play.
Dempsey is a regular starter and should be in the first eleven against Sunnderland. He looks to produce for Fulham as he did in this week's US national team win over Slovenia where the Texas native scored.
Fulham are coming off a loss against Tottenham. Prior to that loss, they had won two games in a row. The Cottagers are just one point from the relegation zone.
Sunderland comes into the game tied in points with Fulham. They have only won one in their last six games.
Philippe Senderos and Aaron Hughes have missed weeks of action for Fulham but both players have been deemed healthy to play this weekend. However, Steve Sidwell and Stephen Kelly look to miss because of injury.
Birmingham City - Peterborough United
Jonathan Spector and Birmingham City take on Peterborough United in weekend Championship action.
Spector started and went the distance in City's last game. He should get the start once again this Saturday.
City are winless in their last three games. They lost to Reading two weeks ago so they will be gunning for the win this week.
Peterborough are coming off a win over Derby county. Prior they had lost three straight games.
Birmingham will miss Morgaro Gomis due to an ankle injury, while Jordon Mutch, is out with a groin strain.
Nottingham Forest - Ipswich Town
Robbie Findley could feature as Nottingham Forest hosts Ipswich Town on Saturday.
Findley started and played ninety minutes in Forest's last game against Portsmouth. He hopes to feature once again this weekend.
Forest are currently just four points from the relegation zone. They lost to Porstmouth in their last league game and will want to get back to winning ways this weekend if they want to separate themselves from the Championship bottom feeders.
Ipswich Town are just three points ahead of Forest in the standings. They have lost three games in a row and will go for the win in order to end their current skid.
Forest could be without Dexter Blackstock, Paul Anderson, Gareth McCleary, and George Boateng because of injury.
Town's Daryl Murphy is likely to miss because of a hamstring problem, while Ibrahim Sonko looks to miss as well with a similar injury.
Zak Whitbread is out injured and will not feature in Norwich City's clash with Arsenal.
Stuart Holden is recovering from knee surgery and will not play in Bolton's game against West Bromwich Albion.
Fresh off a U-23 camp with the US, Conor Doyle hopes to feature in Derby County's game against Hull City.
Mike Grella could feature in Brentford's game against Charlton Athletic.
Anton Peterlin hopes to feature in Walsall's game against Bury.
Frank Simek is injured and will miss Carlisle United's game against Sheffield United.
Jemal Johnson is likely to stay on the bench as Southend United take on Dagenham & Redbridge FC.
John Paul Pittman will be on the bench as Crawley Town takes on Oxford United.
