Currently in the middle of a career year with FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark, Michael Parkhurst has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the club.

Parkhurst's agent Lyle Yorks confirmed the deal on twitter this morning. The extension will now have his contract expiring in December 2012.

Parkhurst, 27, has started each of Nordsjaelland's 15 games this season. The club currently sits in second place in the 12 team Danish Superliga and they currently post the best defense having allowed just 12 goals.

During the season, Parkhurst has been playing multiple positions but he has seen the most time at right back during the last ten games.

Parkhurst and FC Nordsjaelland will return to action this Sunday with a Superliga match against ninth place Sonderjyske.
