Brad Friedel and Tottenham continued their winning streak while Clint Dempsey found the back of the net for Fulham in a full weekend of English action.
Everton 0-2 Liverpool
Tim Howard kept Everton in the game as long as he could but Liverpool eventually broke through and came away with all three points against their cross-town rival.
The game turned heavily in favor of the Liverpool in the 23rd minute when Everton's Jack Rodwell was given a controversial red card for a challenge on Luis Suarez.
Shortly before half, Everton's Phil Jagielka was whistled for a foul on Suarez in the box. Dirk Kuyt elected to take the penalty for Liverpool but Howard made a diving stop on his left side to keep the game scoreless.
In the 70th minute, Liverpool eventually broke through when Craig Bellamy sent a ball wide for Jose Enrique. Enrique sent in a cross that found Andy Carroll who hammered it home from 9 yards.
Suarez would put Liverpool up 2-0 in the 82nd minute when he beat Howard with a low driving shot after Everton defensive mistake in central defense.
Everton return to action after the international window on October 15 when they travel to London to take on Chelsea.
Fulham 6-0 Queens Park Rangers
Fulham picked up their first win of the season in impressive fashion on Saturday when they demolished London rivals Queens Park Rangers.
Clint Dempsey started and played a full 90 minutes for the Cottagers.
Andy Johnson opened the scoring early in the 2nd minute when QPR keeper Paddy Kenny was unable to hang onto a Moussa Dembele shot and Johnson pounced on the rebound.
In the 19th minute Fulham doubled their lead when Johnson was taken down by Kenny in the box and a penalty was called. On the spot kick, Danny Murphy easily converted for the 2-0 lead.
In the 38th minute Andy Johnson would continue to pile on when he tapped home a low Bobby Zamora cross from the left side to make the score 3-0.
In the 59th minute Andy Johnson would complete his hat trick when he took a through ball from Danny Murphy and beat Kenny with a low driving left footed shot for a 4-0 lead.
Clint Dempsey would get on the score sheet n the 65th minute when he was left unguarded 12 yards from goal and took a pass from Bobby Zamora and fired it past Kenny with his first touch on a low shot to the right side.
Bobby Zamora completed the scoring in the 74th minute when he took a pass from Dempsey on the right side. He moved into the box and fired it past Kenny on the far side to make the score 6-0.
Fulham return to action on October 15 when they visit Stoke.
Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal
Tottenham stretched their Premier League winning streak to four games on Sunday when they defeated North London rivals Arsenal at White Heart Lane.
Brad Friedel started in goal for Tottenham.
Rafael van der Vaart opened the scoring for Tottenham in the 40th minute when he collected a past from Emmanuel Adebayor and fired a powerful shot past Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny for a 1-0 lead.
In the 51st minute, Aaron Ramsey equalized for the Gunnars when he finished off a low cross from the left side delivered by Alexandre Song.
In the 73rd minute Kyle Walker found a winner for Tottenham when he collected a loose ball and beat Szczesny with a shot that had power and bend to it.
Tottenham return to action after the international window on October 16 when they visit Newcastle United.
Nottingham Forest 1-3 Birmingham City
Nottingham Forest's disappointing start to the season continued on Sunday when they allowed three goals in the final 15 minutes in a home defeat to Birmingham City.
Jonathan Spector started for Birmingham City but was subbed out at 12 minutes with an injury.
Robbie Findley played the final 25 minutes for Notthingham Forest.
In the 35th minute Nottingham Forest struck first when Lewis McGugan sent in a cross that found the head of Matt Derbyshire. Derbyshire headed the ball on to headed the ball onto Ishmael Miller who then nodded it past Birmingham City keeper Boaz Myhill for a 1-0 lead.
In the 75th minute Birmingham City would eventually equalize the score at 1-1 when Chris Burke collected a loose ball and sent a 25 yard drive past Lee Camp.
Four minutes later in the 79th minute Chris Wood put the visitors on top 2-1 when he took a pass from Burke and hit a shot that deflected pass Camp.
In the 88th minute, Wood put the game out of reach when he got past the Nottingham Forest defense and beat Camp to make the score 3-1.
Notthingham Forest return to action on October 15 when they visit Coventry.
Birmingham City's next game will be on October 16 when they host Leicester City.
Brad Guzan remained on the bench for Aston Villa in their 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic while his teammate Eric Lichaj remained out injured.
Zak Whtibread is still recovering from a hamstring injury and did not play in Norwich City's 2-0 loss to Manchester United.
Stuart Holden is out for the next six months and did not play in Bolton's 5-1 loss to Chelsea.
Conor Doyle earned his first minutes of the season for Derby County when he entered the game in the 86th minute in a 4-0 loss to Leicester City.
Frank Simek is still recovering from a hip injury and did not play for Carlisle United's 1-1 draw with Walsall. Anton Peterlin played the final 17 minutes for Walsall.
Mike Grella did not get off the bench for Brentford in a 4-0 loss to Huddersfield Town.
Jemal Johnson was not in the matchday 18 for Southend United in their 3-0 win over Shrewsbury.
John-Paul Pittman was not in action for Crawley Town in their 2-0 win over Plymouth Argyle.
