Herculez Gomez enjoyed a monumental day at the office scoring twice for Pachuca who swatted away Jaguares in week 13 of the Mexican Clausura while Edgar Castillo's late goal helped Puebla to a draw.

Pachuca 3 - 0 Jaguares

Herculez Gomez enjoyed his finest day in a Pachuca uniform scoring twice for the Tuzos in an emphatic win over Jaguares of Chiapas on Saturday at Estadio Hidalgo.

Gomez was brought on as a second half substitute in the 63rd minute for Edgar Benitez and scored the first two Pachuca goals and provided the assist on the third strike.

They were the first goals for Gomez this season.

Fellow American Jose Francisco Torres started at central midfielder for the hosts and played the first 63 minutes before getting replaced by Yulian Anchico.

The first of Gomez's two goals came in the 71st minute when a Franco Faustino Arizala cross from the left side was headed in by the US international.

Just seven minutes later Gomez doubled the margin with a devastating free kick from outside the area that curled past a diving Jaguares goalkeeper Jorge Villalpando.

Pachuca rounded out the scoring two minutes later in the 80th minute when Gomez played in a through ball to Arizala who pushed a shot past Villalpando and into the net.

The win stretches Pachuca's unbeaten streak to three as they now prepare for a midweek visit to Monterrey to take on Jonathan Bornstein's Tigres on Wednesday.

Puebla 1 - 1 Toluca

Edgar Castillo was a late second half substitute but still managed to score helping Puebla earn a draw with Toluca.

Castillo did not enter the match until the 86th minute when he came on for midfielder Alvaro Ortiz.

Toluca scored first in the 84th minute when Nestor Calderon centered for Emmanuel Cerda who had an easy push into the net for the goal.

For all the world it looked as if Toluca would depart Puebla with the three points until Castillo's last gasp goal saved the days for the home fans.

A Puebla corner kick was cleared out of the area by the Toluca defense however it fell right to Castillo who controlled it and sent a screaming low-driving volley into the bottom left corner of the net in the second minute of second half stoppage time.

The exuberant Castillo raced to the sidelines in celebration where he was mobbed by teammates and coaches.

Puebla will next travel to Torreon on Wednesday to face Santos.

Notes

Neither Daniel Antunez nor Sammy Ochoa saw any playing time in Estudiantes' lackluster 0-0 draw with Gallos Blancos.

Adrian Ruelas did not feature in Santos' 1-1 draw at Monterrey.

Jonathan Bornstein was a 72nd minute substitute for Tigres who lost away 2-0 at Pumas.
