NICK LEYDEN - Sunday, April 3, 2011
Charles Kazlauskas played a 30 minute shift in Helmond Sport's tie with Emmen, while Oguchi Onyewu watched from the bench as Twente defeated fellow title challenger PSV.

Helmond Sport 2-2 FC Emmen

Kazlauskas was once again Jurgen Streppel's first option off the bench, entering the game for Jesper Waalkens in the 63rd minute for what would prove to be an eventful ending.

The Wisconsin native will have been disappointed to drop two points to the struggling visitors who took advantage of suspect goaltending to earn the surprising tie, but he will probably not lose sleep over it as Helmond Sport's place in the promotion playoffs is still secure.

Emmen opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Eldridge Rojer popped the ball over Wouter van der Steen who had just spilled an unnecessary rebound on his own doorstep.

But Helmond Sport drew even in the 30th minute when Marc Höcher ripped a near post shot from the left side of the box after freeing himself with some fancy footwork.

The hosts proceeded to take a late lead in the 82nd minute when Ilja van Leerdam tucked his shot home from just beyond the penalty spot.

The Stadion de Braak faithful surely would have been confident of victory at that point, especially as Emmen were playing with 10 men following Jeffrey de Visscher's second yellow card.

But another weak effort from van der Steen allowed Randy Wolters 25 yard strike to beat him in the 86th minute.
Kaz and Co. will next suit up on the road against league leading Zwolle.

Michel Preud'homme opted to leave Oguchi Onyewu on the bench for Twente's 2-0 victory over PSV. Theo Janssen's two goals move the defending champs from second place into first, where they now hold a two point advantage over the team from Eindhoven. Gooch will hope to return to the lineup in Twente's next game, a Thursday night Europa League showdown with Villareal.
