DAVID SMITH - Thursday, March 10, 2011
Maurice Edu and Rangers held Dutch league leaders Eindhoven to a scoreless draw while Oguchi Onyewu was an unused substitute for Twente in their three-goal win over Zenit St. Petersburg in Europa League round of 16 action.
PSV Eindhoven 0 - 0 Rangers FC
Maurice Edu started and went the distance for Rangers on Thursday evening as their tough defensive display held their hosts PSV Eindhoven to a goalless deadlock.
Solid scoring chances were few and far between for both teams as the Glasgow team clamped down the midfield and gave backup keeper Neil Alexander a relatively stress-free night.
Details of the game are given in a Yanks Abroad press box report.
Oguchi Onyewu watched from the bench as Twente look to have booked their ticket to the quarterfinals with a 3-0 home leg blowout win over Zenit St. Petersburg. They will travel to Russia in one week, needing simply to avoid a total collapse to reach the last eight of the competition.
