PREVIEW: RANGERS - ST. JOHNSTONE
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME

Maurice Edu and Rangers return home to Ibrox Stadium on Sunday versus St. Johnstone with a bounce in their step after their dramatic Europa League win over Sporting Lisbon.

Edu was the hero for Rangers on Thursday night in Lisbon scoring a last minute goal to send the Light Blues through to the quarterfinals on away goals 3-3.

The US international went the full distance on Thursday night in Lisbon versus Sporting so it is possible that head coach Walter Smith might start Edu on the bench versus the Saints.

It was a huge win for the Light Blues who had been drilled by Old Firm rivals Celtic 3-0 just three days prior.

The loss to the Hoops leaves them eight points behind in the Scottish Premier League standings, but still with two matches in hand.

Buoyed by the dramatic win over Sporting, Edu and company should be full of confidence when the visitors from Perth come to town.

It will be interesting to see if Smith elects to keep defender Steven Whittaker at the central midfield position alongside Edu which is where they played on Thursday.

The Rangers defense should not expect much of a test from the St. Johnstone's attack as the Saints currently have the second worst offense in the SPL with 17 goals scored. Only bottom feeders Hamilton have produced less with 14 goals.

Kirk Broadfoot and Lee McCulloch are out for Rangers while Sam Parkin and Chris Millar will be missing for the guests.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
