An American goalkeeper will have a chance at playing in Latin America's most prestigious tournament as Bolivian club Jorge Wilstermann have signed Matt Glaeser to its squad for the upcoming season.

Glaeser, a native of Virginia, had spent the last two years in the USL with Miami FC and the Tampa Bay Rowdies before receiving his shot with the Bolivians.

Wilstermann are based in the city of Cochabamba and by merit of their first place finish in the 2010 Liga de Futbol Profesional Boliviano, they have earned a place in this year's edition of the Copa Libertadores.

Ironically, their 12th place finish in last year's Clausura also meant they have been relegated down to Bolivia's second division.

Despite that disappointment, the club is stating that Glaeser is one of the new additions to the squad that they hope will experience success on the continent this year.

"Matt Glaeser is one of the foreign players that will strengthen the Wilstermann roster for the 2011 Copa Libertadores," confirmed Wilstermann spokesman Miguel Davalos to YA. "The training sessions led by coach Marcelo Neveleff have begun along with the rigorous decision making process as to who will be at the coach's disposal."

Glaeser and Wilstermann have been drawn into Group Six with Brazilian club Internacional, Emelec of Ecuador and either Mexican club Jaguares or Peruvian club Alianza Lima.

The Bolivians will begin Libertadores action on February 16th when they play the winner of the Jaguares-Alianza Lima playoff.
