Carlos Bocanegra and Saint Etienne's winless ways continued with a draw on the road versus Nancy at Stade Marcel Picot in Tomblaine.

Bocanegra started in defense for the visitors and went the distance. The splitting of the points keeps Saint Etienne mired in the middle of the Ligue 1 standings.

The US national team captain and company have now gone eight matches without a victory in all competitions.

A sleepy first half gave way to a more action-packed second 45 minutes that saw Loic Perrin put Saint Etienne up first.

Bakary Sako's shot in the 50th minute was blocked by Nancy goalkeeper Damien Gregorini however Perrin was there to push in the rebound.

Saint Etienne's goal appeared to inject some life into the Nancy squad as they began hunting for an equalizer.

It arrived 13 minutes after Perrin's strike when forward Marama Vahirua sent a screaming free kick into the top right corner of the net.

A couple late chances by the hosts came up short and both teams were left to rue the sister-kisser.

Next up for Saint Etienne is their make-up match versus Valenciennes that was postponed two weeks ago due to heavy rains.
