PREVIEW: SC AUSTRIA LUSTENAU – SCR ALTACH

EXTRA TIME
CHRISTOPHER ANDERSON - Thursday, November 25, 2010
Josh Gatt looks to continue his scoring streak as Altach face the third-place holders on Friday with a chance to enter the winter break as league leaders.

Coach Adi Hütter's men head up the road for a regional derby riding a seven-game unbeaten streak, and need a win to ensure a comfortable spot at the top before the three-month winter break.

Michigan native Gatt can expect to feature in the starting midfield after scoring in each of the past two games.

Gatt capped off a 4-0 rout of FC Admira last Friday with a goal that earned the Black and Golds the top spot on goal difference. It was the third goal for the 19-year old this season.

SC Austria Lustenau currently occupies the third spot with 32 points, but a daunting 13-point gap separating them from FC Admira. Their recent outing, a 4-2 loss at RZ WAC/St Andrä, didn't help matters much.

Coach Edmund Stohr also lost first-string keeper Alexander Kofler, who picked up a straight red card and must serve a one-game suspension. Brazilian Christian Mendes is expected to step in between the posts for the encounter in Lavanttal Arena.

Altach will be missing midfielder Matthias Hopfer, recipient of a yellow card last week, as well as the injured Tomi and Alexander Guem.

In their last meeting in Altach's Cashpoint Arena, the hosts got the better of their Vorarlberg rivals with a 2-0 win.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
