PREVIEW: MIDWEEK MEXICAN ACTION
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
WOODY BAUM - Wednesday, November 17, 2010
Edgar Castillo and San Luis look for revenge against America while the Three Amigos at Pachuca hope to repeat last year's heroic playoff performance against Monterrey.

San Luis – America

San Luis will host their brother club, América, on Wednesday in the first match of the playoffs.

San Luis are coming off a loss to Cruz Azul to finish up the tournament.

The hosts will be looking for revenge after their loss in an exciting game to America in week 12. That game, Edgar Castillo saw time in the second half and had an assist.

He aims to repeat that performance tomorrow as he is projected to start.

Castillo and the San Luis defense will have a difficult task ahead of them in stopping a potent American offense led by Uruguayan Matias Vuoso.

Both teams should have their entire rosters available.

Monterrey – Pachuca

Pachuca visit Monterrey on Thursday in a repeat of last tournament's quarterfinal match-up.

In that series, Pachuca surprised many by earning a hard fought road win against a strong Monterrey team that many projected to win the tournament.

Pachuca should have a similarly hard time this season as Monterrey is traditionally strong at home.

Jose Francisco Torres will look to start in the midfield alongside rookie Carlos Peña as Pachuca continues their miracle run.

Luckily for Pachuca, Monterrey striker Humberto 'El Chupete' Suazo will not be playing due to a national team call up from Chile.

However, Suazo will be replaced by the always dangerous Aldo de Nigris.

Marco Vidal should see the field to shore up the defense in the second half if Pachuca take the lead.

If not, Herculez Gomez might be an option off the bench to give Pachuca additional scoring options if need be.

Both teams will have their entire rosters available.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
