EXTRA TIME
WOODY BAUM - Friday, October 8, 2010
Marco Vidal looks to cement his starting role with Pachuca as they try to move into playoff contention this weekend.

Tigres – Estudiantes

Sammy Ochoa and Estudiantes will look to continue to earn points when they visit Tigres in Monterrey on Saturday.

Estudiantes are coming off a tie at home against Jaguares last week, but haven't won a game in over a month. Despite their weak showing so far this season, a win would still move them from last place to third.

Sammy Ochoa is not projected to start, however he has been playing regularly and can expect to see the field, at least as a substitute.

Estudiantes will be without Gustavo Cabral, who is suspended, and Mario Rodriguez, who is injured. Tigres will be without Jose Rivas, Omar Trujillo, and Francisco Fonseca who are all injured.

Pachuca – Pumas

Pachuca and the team's trio of Americans hopes to keep their win streak alive this Saturday when they host Pumas.

The Tuzos had previously been one the league's most disappointing teams this season, but two consecutive wins have restored hope and a belief that they may still reach the liguilla as they are only four points out of first place.

This weekend they are handed the task of hosting second-place Pumas, who have been strong all tournament long. Pachuca will also have the disadvantage of playing without striker Edgar Benitez, who was called up for the Paraguayan national team, however absence may make way for Herculez Gomez to start.

Marco Vidal is projected to start in the midfield as he has done for the past three weeks, while Jose Francisco Torres will look to regain his starting spot after losing it the past two weeks to Carlos Peña.

Pumas should have their entire lineup available.

Notes

Edgar Castillo and San Luis visit Atlas on Saturday.

Pumas will be missing their best central defender Darío Verón, who will join Benítez with Paraguay for friendlies. So Gómez has a better chance not only to start, but also to score.
