DANISH CUP SECOND ROUND DRAW
PREVIEWS
EXTRA TIME
DAVID SMITH - Friday, August 13, 2010
The draw for the second round of the Danish Cup has been made, with most Superligaen clubs entering the ring for the late-August list of games.

Current holders Michael Parkhurst and FC Nordsjælland should have no problems beginning their defense of the the Cup as they visit Second Division team Vanløse IF.

The Wild Tigers picked up their first piece of hardware by beating Midtjylland in last season's final, and have high hopes of proving it was no fluke by going far in this year's competition.

While spending most of their history in the lower divisions of the Danish league system, Vanløse incidentally have had past success in the Danish Cup, hoisting the trophy in the 1974 edition in their one and only final appearance.

Marcus Tracy could be back to health in time for Aalborg's matchup against Second Division Blokhus while Chris Rolfe might still need more time to recover from his leg injury.

Aalborg went out in the round of 16 in last season's addition, but will be looking to add to their current two titles in the competition, the most recent of which was more than 40 years ago.

Should Benny Feilhaber still remain with Aarhus at the end of month, he will join his fellow teammates against fourth-tier Odder IGF Fodbold following their 4-1 win over Holstebro BK.

AGF are the record holders for Danish Cup competition, having taken the trophy nine times in eleven tries since their first win in 1955, however have not stood on the winners' podium since 1996.

Babajide Ogunbiyi and Viborg have been rewarded for their 2-0 win over Kjellerup with an easy trip to fourth-tier Ringkøbing IF on their quest for the mid-May final in Copenhagen.

Games will be played between Tuesday, August 24 and Thursday August 26, with the teams successfully passing through to the third round back in action in late-September.
