It was a tough week for the yanks in the Finnish Veikkausliiga as Daniel Antunez lost at home to KuPS and Greg Echkardt and VPS were smacked around by TPS.

FC Inter 1-3 KuPS

After their midweek exit from the third round of Europa League qualifying, Daniel Antunez and FC Inter fell to their second loss of the week on Saturday night against Veikkausliiga title challengers KuPS.

Antunez started and played the first half before being substituted by Tero Mantyla but could not replicate his two-goal salvo against KRC Genk.

Despite home advantage at the Veritas Stadion, FC Inter fell behind in the 22nd minute when Mikka Ilo, a former Inter player, beat Antunez to the ball and finished with élan past David Monsalve.

Inter responded at the half-hour mark, Henri Lehtonen slotting home after Mika Ojala had crossed in from the byline.

After Juho Nykanen had produced a point-blank save to deny Antunez off a corner in the 36th minute, KuPS countered quickly with a move finished off by MacPherlin Dudu Omagbemi.

KuPS secured the win twenty minutes from time when Peter Holopainen condemned FC Inter to their second loss of the week.

FC Inter drop to seventh place in the standings and face TPS next Sunday.

Greg Eckhardt and VPS suffered their third consecutive league defeat when they were outplayed by a confident TPS team at home on Saturday.

Eckhardt came on as a substitute in the 69th minute and picked up one yellow card late in the game. American goalkeeper Brian Pope is still unavailable due to a shoulder injury.

With heavy rain affecting the quality of passing around the field, fans had to wait until the second half to see the first goal of the game. Mika Aaritalo found Riku Riski unmarked in the midfield and the young Finn finished to the bottom corner.

TPS made it 2-0 just nine minutes later when Juho Source fired a high shot past South Korean goalkeeper Jung-Hyuk Kwan.
Things only got worse for VPS when Roope Riski wrapped up the game with his first goal of the game.

VPS are now in 10th place with 21 points. They host fifth place Jaro next Monday.
