TRAFTON KENNEY - Friday, August 6, 2010
Daniel Antunez and Inter will try to get past their Europa League disappointment as they host KuPS while Greg Eckhardt and VPS face an important mid-standings visit to TPS.
FC Inter - KuPS
After a disappointing 3-2 loss on Thursday to KRC Genk in Europa League qualifying, FC Inter return their attention to the Veikkausliiga and their upcoming game against KuPS on Sunday.
Daniel Antunez, who notched the team's only two goals against Genk, is expected to start at his customary spot in midfield and will hope to continue his goalscoring run.
Coach Job Dragtsma will have to shuffle his lineup with several key players out injured. Kennedy Nwanganga, Timo Furuholmen, Guillano Grot, and Pablo Gomez did not make the trip to Belgium and are expected to remain sidelined over the weekend.
KuPS are currently high on confidence with 27 points from 16 games. They currently sit in third place and will be eager to hold on to their automatic Europa League qualifying spot. FC Inter are just five points behind in sixth place.
VPS - TPS
Greg Eckhardt and VPS will hope to put last weekend's loss behind them when they travel to face TPS on Sunday.
The Orange Park, Florida native played the full 90 minutes against HJK and is expected to earn the start in defense again.
VPS Coach Tommy Pikkarainen is still without the services of American goalkeeper Brian Pope and defender Jan Berg, although the latter is nearing a return from a long term knee injury.
Both teams are currently level with 21 points each but TPS is slightly ahead in seventh place on goal differential.
