Despite rumors of a new contract with Greek club Aris, striker Eddie Johnson says that he is still a member of Fulham and is planning on being with the Cottagers come preseason.
Johnson had been loaned by the London club to Aris in January of 2010 where he appeared in 16 Super League matches and tallied five goals.
Reports out of the Greek media surfaced that a two year deal for Johnson would be made official this week, however this came as a news to the Bunnell, Florida native who waved off any talk of a new contract for now.
"I know that Aris is interested in me but I haven't talked about a new contract with them," Johnson told YA. "They haven't talked with Fulham about me so there is no signing of a contract right now."
The former Kansas City Wizard was named to US national team head coach Bob Bradley's 30 man provisional roster but was not selected to the final 23 man squad to travel to South Africa.
By not traveling with the US team, Johnson has been off since late May and says that he will be joining up with Fulham for the start of the team's preseason early next month.
"I'm just getting ready to go back to England," concluded Johnson. "I'm still a member of Fulham and I'll be with the team for preseason starting July 7th."
