DAVID SMITH - Monday, June 21, 2010
Jamil Fearrington and Roskilde closed their season with a lopsided loss at home to Skive, while Babajide Ogunbiyi and Viborg saved their best for last for a dramatic last-second draw at Fyn.

FC Fyn 1 - 1 Viborg FF

Babajide Ogunbiyi went the distance in central defense for Viborg, as they ended their season on a high note thanks to a last-gasp equalizer by Kevin Mensah on Sunday.

Defenses ruled the opening half, with Viborg continuing their stifling play in the back to limit Fyn's chances, while never finding the guile to create any real danger themselves.

Forward Kevin Mensah snuck through the Fyn defense shortly past the intermission, but his strike only came dangerously close in bouncing off the post.

The hosts did manage to grab a goal in the 72nd minute, with Lasse Vibe collecting a long-ball over the defense and sending it past Greens keeper Robert Veselovsky for the 1-0 lead.

With the final seconds of the team's season winding down, an attacking flurry by Viborg with Ogunbiyi in the thick of things left the ball at the feet of Mensah, who poked the ball over the line for the 92nd minute equalizer.

The share of the point secures a final seventh-place finish for the Greens as they head into the short Danish off-season. Ogunbiyi will remain with Viborg for the upcoming season as they once again set their sights on gaining promotion back into the top flight.

FC Roskilde 1 - 3 Skive IK

With their safety already wrapped up, Jamil Fearrington and Roskilde dropped their final game of the season, giving up a trio of goals in a lopsided defeat to Skive.

The hosts got quickly off on the wrong foot when Skive's Morten Bech Andersen was left free to head in a sixth-minute goal, but were able to get a hold on matters to prevent any more damage for the rest of the half.

They sprang to live just seconds after the break with Stefan Schmidt equalizing in the 46th minute, but were unable to hold the momentum, allowing Skive to retake the lead 19 minutes later on a fine header from Andreas Albers.

Despite the hosts' better efforts to nab another equalizer, they were done in with seven minutes left when Albers netted his second of the afternoon, and fifth of the last two games, to give Skive the final 3-1 win.

Roskilde finish the season in 11th place on 33 points, three ahead of the relegation zone, which saw Thisted join Frem and Brabrand in the bottom three thanks to their heartbreaking final day loss.

Fearrington will remain with Roskilde in the upcoming term as he signed a two-year contract during the season.

Euan Holden missed Vejle's season-closing 1-0 road loss to Lyngby on Sunday as he recovers from groin surgery. The result confirms Lyngby's promotion to the Superligaen for the 2010-11 season, with Vejle forced to endure a highly disappointing tenth-place finish, well off of their own aim for a return to the Danish top flight.
