Daniel Antunez and FC Inter registered their first home win of the season at Veritas Stadion with a victory on Monday night in Turku over Greg Eckhardt and VPS.
Antunez started in defense and went the full 90 minutes for Dutch head coach Job Dragtsma. With the win, Inter now have a modest two match winning streak.
Eckhardt entered the match at halftime and played the final 45 minutes in defense.
The former Clemson standout also received a yellow card in the 89th minute.
The game's lone goal came in the second half when the red-hot Henri Lehtonen found the back of the net again.
Lehtonen scored twice in last week's 0-3 win over JJK and added another goal to his season total with a goal in the 57th minute.
With his back to the goal, playmaker Kennedy Nwanganga gathered in a pass and played a quick backheel to the cutting Lehtonen who fired home to score.
The play between the two attackers was almost an exact replica of a goal scored by Lehtonen last week where the Nigerian also used a quick touch with the back of his foot to give Lehtonen an open look.
With the win, Inter charge up the Veikkausliiga standings to 10th with 11 points while VPS remain mired in eighth position, also with 11 points.
Antunez and company next host league leaders HJK on Sunday while Eckhardt and VPS look to rebound against a struggling FC Lahti.
