It was a tough weekend for Daniel Antunez and FC Inter who slipped at home versus Tampere United while Greg Eckhardt failed to see any action for VPS versus KuPS.
FC Inter 0 - 2 Tampere United
Daniel Antunez and FC Inter failed to take advantage of the home crowd as they fell to Tampere United at Veritas Stadium on Monday.
Former Rochester Rhino Antunez played 46 minutes in midfield before making way for forward Timo Furuholmen, who recently returned from a long injury lay off.
It took just 15 minute for the visitors to take the lead as Jonne Hjelm's corner kick found Vili Savolainen with plenty of space and the forward made no mistake from inside the box.
Despite a few offensive-minded substitutions after half-time by coach Job Dragtsma, including the inclusion of Furuholmen, the home team could not find the equalizer.
In the 73rd minute, Tampere United added another goal after a careless giveaway by Joni Aho.
Jusu Karvonen drove into the box before being taken down by Inter goalkeeper David Monsalve.
Henri Myntti scored the ensuing penalty, giving Tampere United their third consecutive win and moving the team into sixth place in the Veikkausliiga.
FC Inter have now gone four games without a win and are two points off the bottom in 13th place. They face AC Oulu on May 31st.
Americans Brian Pope and Greg Eckhardt did not made the bench for VPS' 2-0 victory over KuPS 2-0 on Sunday. Goalkeeper Pope is still out with a shoulder injury while Eckhardt is still working his way into the squad after making his Veikkausliiga debut last week.
