TRAFTON KENNEY - Friday, May 21, 2010
Daniel Antunez and FC Inter welcome in Tampere United while VPS have a tough task at home on Sunday versus KuPS in weekend Veikkausliiga action.
FC Inter - Tampere United
Daniel Antunez and FC Inter host eighth-place Tampere United at Veritas Stadium in a middle of the standings matchup this Monday.
The 23-year old Santa Ana, California native is expected to start in midfield.
FC Inter are also boosted by the return of forward Timo Furuholmen who finally returned to the field last weekend in the 2-2 derby draw against TPS after a long spell on the sidelines due to injury.
FC Inter, who currently sit in 11th place, have enjoyed a mixed run of results, having lost twice, won twice, and tied once over the last five games.
A win for FC Inter could help the Turku-based club surge past MYPA and AC Oula, who are currently tied with them at five points.
VPS - KuPS
Greg Eckhardt will hope to build on his Veikkausliiga debut last week when VPS face third-place KuPS on Sunday.
The former Clemson Tiger came on at halftime but could not help VPS fully recover from two early goals as they eventually fell 3-2 to FF Jaro.
While VPS have gotten off to a slow start in the early stages of the season with just four points after five games, KuPS are already applying pressure at the top, having won their past two games.
Despite the recent play of 20-year old goalkeeper Jonas Pontinen, who earned a shutout in a 2-0 win over JJK last week, Miko Vilmunen is expected to return to his starting role after recovering from an illness last week.
VPS are missing Jyri Hietaharju and Valtter Laaksonen after both key players suffered a broken jaw and broken nose, respectively, against FF Jaro.
American goalkeeper Brian Pope is currently unavailable due to a shoulder injury.
