WOODY BAUM - Thursday, April 15, 2010
Francisco Torres will try to keep Pachuca's liguilla hopes alive, while Herculez Gomez continues to chase "El Chicharito."
Jaguares – Indios
Indios will try to make it three wins in a row this Saturday when they visit Jaguares of Chiapas. The Ciudad Juarez squad have recently been doing what they haven't done all season long; winning. Jaguares, one of the other teams threatened with relegation will provide a stiff test for Marco Vidal and Indios.
Luckily for Vidal, he will not have to try to stop Colombian forward, Jackson Martinez, the league's second highest goal scorer, as Martinez will miss the game with an injury. Jaguares will also be without their goalkeeper, Oscar Pérez, who is currently training with the Mexican national team.
Indios will be without Daniel Frías, Arturo Alvarado and Javier Malagueño who are all injured.
Atlante – Tigres
Edgar Castillo will look to make his return as Tigres visit Atlante this Saturday. Tigres are coming off two consecutive wins and have been playing quality soccer since their head coach, Daniel Guzman was fired and then rehired.
Tigres will face an Atlante team that has disappointed all season long. Atlante will be lead by Johan Fano, who is currently second in the league in goals scored.
Tigres will be without Everton Cardoso, Fernando Ortiz and Antonio Sancho who are injured. Atlante will have their full squad available.
Pachuca – Toluca
Pachuca will visit Toluca in what is a remake of the Concacaf Champions League semifinal. Pachuca need to win as they currently sit three points out of second place in their group. A loss would essentially remove any hopes of a liguilla berth.
Pachuca will have to do so without starter Paul Aguilar who is training with the national team.
Francisco Torres will look to start and command the offense in the always intimidating Nemesio Diez stadium. He will also need to closely mark Antonio "Sinha" Naelson as he has in Pachuca's previous encounters if Pachuca are to have a chance at earning three points.
Toluca should have their full squad available.
Puebla – Cruz Azul
It will be the penultimate opportunity for Herculez Gomez to overtake Javier "El Chicharito" Hernandez's spot as league leader in goals as Puebla takes on Cruz Azul on Sunday. First, however, Gomez will have to get on the field as he was surprisingly left out of last week's game.
Puebla will take on a Cruz Azul squad that still has liguilla hopes, even as those hopes dimmer each week. Cruz Azul are coming off a tie at home against Pachuca and will need to win if they want any chance of extending their season.
Cruz Azul, however, will have to win without their captain, Gerardo Torrado, who is on national team duty. Puebla will be without Jorge Villalpando, who is injured, and Manuel Mondragón, who is suspended.
Sammy Ochoa and Estudiantes will visit the Gallos Blancos on Saturday.
Isaac Acuña and America will visit Monterrey as America still has a chance at the liguilla.
