American Peter Philipakos has finally made his debut for Greek powerhouse Olympiakos, coming on as a sub in the 84th minute in a 1-0 loss at Iraklis in the Greece National Cup.

After having signed with the Athens club in August, Philipakos' first 4 months were marred by disappointment and injury as he attempted to break into the first team of last seasons runners up to the A Ethniki Katigoria champions Panathinaikos.

While many supporters were incredulous about the summer signing, rave reviews during preseason changed all that and the Olympiakos faithful were eager to see what the 21 year old American had to offer.

Some Greek media sources had him pegged to start the season at the right midfield position, but a groin strain and resulting surgery kept him out of action for the entire first half of the 2004-05 season.

This was the first leg of the competition with the return leg set to be played in two weeks time in Athens.
