American central defender Oguchi Onyewu feels that the USA is back on track after anchoring the defense in the American victory over Poland in Krakow.
"It was a good game and a good result," the Standard Liege man told YA. "We really weren't expecting to win so comfortably."
Onyewu stressed the importance of winning in Europe. The United States has now won for the second time in as many games against a European team on their home soil, including a 1-0 result at Switzerland in October.
"It was good to get a good result in Europe against a team that will be playing in Euro 2008. Poland also qualified first in their group ahead of Portugal."
"It was a good milestone because in our last game in Europe we weren't very imposing. I now feel that we are really progressing."
Having scored against Mexico the last time out, the ex-Clemson Tiger did the same against Poland to register back-to-back strikes in national team colors.
"I seem to be in the right place at the right time," the big American concluded.
