Latest top-flight American Jeremiah White is pleased by his new status as a fan favorite and happy to have paid back the support by helping AGF Arhus back into the Danish Superliga.
"The community has been the best, everyone is helpful and supportive. In France not many people were helpful, so being here is a huge improvement," a thankful White told YA. "When Brian Steen brought me, Kari [Arnason], and Olof [Persson] into the squad we came in with no other outcome in mind...only promotion."
"To have accomplished that goal coming to a team in sixth place and finishing with promotion is quite nice."
In Sunday's promotion-clinching win over Kolding IF, the Wake Forest alum played his way to Man of the Match honors while pro-America chants cascaded down upon White from the AGF faithful.
"The game atmosphere was unlike anything I've experienced. The fans here are truly one of a kind," White said. "I especially love it when they chant 'USA, USA!'"
Having played a significant part in AGF's second-half resurgence in 2007, White has good reason to be optimistic about next season.
"Promotion means first league football. I'm very excited to show what I can do in the Superliga," the ambitious 25-year old proclaimed. "As far as my career is concerned, I just continue to make steps forwards."
"This next year will be an important year for AGF. We have to show our quality. We have a lot of experienced players and the club is working to build up a very strong team."
AGF Aarhus finish up their successful 1. Division season this weekend by hosting Hellerup IK.
