Aalborg BK defender Danny Califf says he felt like Santa had given him a sneak preview when informed by Bob Bradley that he was joining the US National Team for their Carson, California training camp in early January.
The 26-year old last appeared in Red, White & Blue in October of 2005, working a World Cup 2006 qualifying win over Panama.
A key component to Aalborg's fast start this season, the center back has caused observers to take notice with his strong play.
"Getting called in with the National Team is always an honor, but I really felt like I received an early Christmas present," Califf told YA. "It has been a long time, and I hope to make a good impression with the new coach and have fun!"
The Orange County boy could help play host to one or more of his Aalborg teammates if chosen to suit up for the friendly against Denmark at the Home Depot Center on January 20th.
Midfielder Rasmus Würtz has been named to coach Morten Olsen's initial squad, with Jeppe Curth and Michael Jakobsen waiting in the wings as possible stand-ins in the event of injuries.
"I am really stoked about the possibility of having some of the AaB boys out to "my" home," said the former LA Galaxy star. "Hopefully, we can find some time when I can show them around a little."
Aalborg, fourth in the SAS Liga at the winter break, return to action with a derby visit from Robbie Russell and Viborg on March 11th.
