Yunus Musah has committed his future to Valencia as it was announced that the midfielder has signed a long-term deal with the Spanish La Liga team.
The news which was reported on Friday has the 18-year-old signing an extension until June 2026 with a 100-million euro release clause tagged to it.
The New York-born teen has been a revelation for Valencia
since making his debut back in September. He has gone on to make 10 appearances thus far and scored his first goal for the team in their game against Getafe in November, making him the second-youngest goalscorer for the team.
"I'm very happy to have signed for Valencia CF, and to have renewed my contract. I can't wait for what the future holds. It's a dream come true for myself and for my family. Something that I've dreamed of ever since I was young was to have a first team contract with a big club. For that to happen at Valencia CF is even bigger," said Musah in a statement on Valencia's website.
The much-traveled Musah would live in Italy for a decade before his family headed to London where he joined the famed academy at Arsenal. However, he would swap England for the Spanish sun in 2019 as he signed with Valencia. After making appearances between the Under-19 and B teams, he was promoted to the first team and has not looked back since.
And it appears that Musah is quite happy with his current situation.
I'm enjoying my football a lot here. I'm learning every day. My teammates, the staff and everyone else here have really helped me, and I'm enjoying myself here. It's obviously a great thing to be playing so many matches at my age. I just want to thank everybody that has made this possible," he said.
Now that Musah has locked down his long-term future club-wise, he has his goals set for what he wants to accomplish.
The only thing that is left to settle is his international future as many U.S. national team fans will hope he commits to playing for the team permanently after impressing in his two appearances in their November friendlies.
"It would be amazing to win LaLiga with Valencia CF. It's one of the most prestigious trophies in the world, and to win it with Valencia CF would be amazing," he said.
