RECAP: WEEKEND DANISH ACTION
EXTRA TIME
KENYA BROWN - Tuesday, November 10, 2020
Haji Wright capped off his good week by scoring a goal as SonderjyskE maintained their hold on first place in the Danish Superliga with a win.

Horsens 0-3 SonderjyskE

SonderjyskE proved to be too much for Horsens as they came away with a comfortable win at the CASA Arena to keep themselves ahead of the pack.

It was a good week for SonderjyskE, especially Haji Wright as he was named the Danish Superliga's Player of the Month for October following his goal-scoring exploits. The 22-year-old striker has certainly regained his confidence and was probably disappointed to not get a call-up to the U.S. national team for their upcoming friendlies. However, he was give another opportunity to show Gregg Berhalter what he's missing out on as the team desperately searches for new candidates at the position.

Horsens tested the visitors early in the early stages of the game with a few shots on goal. However, SonderjyskE's Australian goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas would be on the spot to make some crucial saves.

The tide would then suddenly change in the 22nd minute as SonderjyskE opened the scoring from a counter-attack. Anders Jacobsen supplied the pass to Victor Ekani, and the Cameroonian would fire in his shot from the edge of the area.

Alexander Bah doubled the visitors lead in the 68th minute as SonderjyskE were on the hunt for more goals. Horsens did poorly to clear the ball from their area following a corner kick. That allowed the Danish midfielder to tee himself up to put the ball in the back of the net.

It was then Wright's turn as he put the game to bed in the 78th minute. Bah would pounce on the loose ball which he then squared to the big American to slot home.

A strong win for the team and another good performance from Wright that should keep him in the running for a look in future U.S. national team games.

SonderjyskE sits atop the standings with 17 points.

Notes

Jens Cajuste played 73 minutes as Midtjylland blanked FC Copenhagen in a 4-0 win.
