Emmanuel Sabbi scored the only goal of the game for Odense as they came away with the win over Horsens in the latest round of action in the Danish Superliga.
Odense 1-0 Horsens
Odense was able to hold on after scoring an early goal to secure the win over Horsens at Nature Energy Park as they try to push themselves up the standings.
Emmanuel Sabbi would play 73 minutes in the contest as he had another strong outing that could possibly earn him a call-up to the U.S. national team later this month.
The 22-year-old attacker would score the only goal of the game 11 minutes in when a Horsens defender chested the ball down into his path. Sabbi did well to collect the ball and ward off any challenges before he slotted the ball home.
Odense was then given an advantage in the second half when the referee sent off Horsens' Kjartan Finnbogason for his harsh tackle. The video assistant referee confirmed the severity of the challenge leaving the official no choice but to issue the red card.
The host should have capitalized on this, but they did enough to hold on for the win.
Odense sits in 10th place in the standings with 10 points, only four points out from first place.
Haji Wright could not find the back of the net this time as he played 74 minutes in SonderjyskE's 1-1 tie with Aarhus. The team remains at the top of the standings.
Jens Cajuste played 85 minutes as Midtjylland was manhandled by Nordsjaelland in a 4-1 defeat.
