KENYA BROWN - Monday, November 11, 2019
The US national team revealed its 23-man roster on Monday for their crucial CONCACAF Nations League games against Canada and Cuba, with Christian Pulisic being the biggest omission.

Pulisic, who was named among nine overseas-based players originally, has been scratched from the roster due to a hip injury he incurred in Chelsea's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace over the weekend. The winger has been in excellent form recently as he has bagged five goals for the Blues since being reinserted into the starting lineup.

Along with Pulisic, goalkeeper Zack Steffen will miss the two games due to a knee injury despite him playing in Fortuna Dusseldorf's game against Schalke. However, teammate Alfredo Morales makes his return to the team after pulling out in the last international break due to injury.

Center-back John Brooks also makes his return to the team after overcoming an injury.

And right back Sergino Dest will look to play his official game for the United States since his announcement that he will play for the country over calls from the Netherlands.

After starting the inaugural Nations League with a win over Cuba, the US put on an embarassing display in their game against Canada, leading to a 2-0 loss in Toronto.

This leaves the team with much to do if they want to make it to the knockout stage of the tournament as they need to win both games and make up a three-goal differential on the Canadians in order to make it to the semifinals.

"Advancing to the knockout phase is our priority, and that starts by getting a win against Canada. We will be ready to play, the team is looking forward to competing in front of our fans. Orlando has been a great venue for the national team, and the support of our fans makes a big difference," Berhalter told reporters on Monday.

The US will first play Canada on Friday at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida, then hop on a flight for the Cayman Islands where they will face Cuba next Tuesday.
