US CALLS UP MLS PLAYERS FOR PRE-CAMP
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
KENYA BROWN - Thursday, October 31, 2019
US national team head coach Gregg Berhalter will get an early start on preparations for November's CONCACAF Nations League games by calling up 20 MLS-based players to a pre-camp.

The 20 players, who seasons have ended in MLS, will report for the camp in Bradenton, Florida, that will run from Nov. 2 to 9. The European players are expected to arrive on Nov. 10.

After a horrendous showing against Canada in their 2-0 defeat in Toronto, the US will have their work cut out for them if they want to win Group A and proceed to the knockout stage of the inaugural event. These games are also crucial for Berhalter, who has come under intense criticism for his team's style of play, as he looks to reverse their fortunes and get them on a positive path with World Cup qualifiers coming soon.

With these two games important to the team's fate in the tournament, Berhalter sees the pre-camp as an opportunity to make sure the players are ready.

"We have the opportunity to take advantage of the MLS post-season window to start preparations for the matches against Canada and Cuba," Berhalter said. "It's another week to keep progressing as a group as we focus on getting the results we need to advance to the knockout phase of the Nations League."

The US will face Canada on Nov. 15 in Orlando, Florida, followed by their game against Cuba on Nov. 19 in the Cayman Islands.
