Matt Miazga will play for FC Nantes on a season-long loan from English Premier League team Chelsea, the French Ligue 1 team announced on Monday.
The loan comes with an option for Nantes to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
After days of speculation as to where the center-back will be playing for the 2018-2019 season, with earlier reports saying he was headed to fellow Ligue 1 team Caen, the team known as Les Canaris swooped in to add him to their squad.
The New Jersey native has come off two successful loans with Vitesse in the Dutch Eredivisie as he won the Dutch Cup in the 2016-2017 season - the team's first title in their history - followed by helping them to win the Europa League playoff spot last season.
Now, the 23-year-old will test himself in one of Europe's top leagues as he will have the chance to face teams such as Lyon, Marseille, AS Monaco and reigning title holders PSG.
Miazga becomes the second American to where the Nantes jersey following Alejandro Bedoya, who played for the team in 2013-2016.
The defender will have his first shot to see action for Nantes when they start their Ligue 1 campaign on Saturday against Monaco.
