RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
KENYA BROWN - Monday, May 16, 2016
The end of the German league season brought no surprises as many of the Americans playing in the country already knew their outcomes prior to the weekend's final games.

Here is a rundown of how everyone fared on the last day of the season.

Bundesliga

John Brooks started for Hertha Berlin in their crucial game against Mainz that would decide which team would directly punch a ticket to the group stages of the Europa League. However, the capital side were held to a 0-0 tie, which dropped them to seventh place in the standings and out of the automatic qualification spot. They must now navigate two qualification rounds beginning in late-July if they hope to make the group stage.

Tim Chandler was a second half substitute as Eintracht Frankfurt suffered a 1-0 loss to Werder Bremen. This means that Chandler and his team will have some extra work to do as they will face his former team Nürnberg in a two-leg playoff. On the other side, Aron Johannsson may be out injured for Werder, but their win guaranteed their safety in the league for next season.

Fabian Johnson did not dress as he continues to recover from a groin injury, but Borussia VfL Mönchengladbach secured a 2-0 win over Darmstadt to finish their season. They will head into the Champions League qualifiers next season as they finished in fourth place.

Alfredo Morales dressed, but did not play as Ingoldstadt suffered a 3-2 loss to Bayer Leverkusen. Die Schnazer finished in 11th place in their first season in the top league.

Christian Pulisic did not dress for Borussia Dortmund's 2-2 tie with Köln as his services will be used in Monday afternoon's U19 League championship semifinal. The 17-year-old will be looking for more playing time next season as the Black and Yellows return to the Champions League next season.

2. Bundesliga

Hamburg-bound Bobby Wood played the final five minutes for Union Berlin, while Caleb Stanko did not dress as the Iron Ones sealed a 2-1 win over the second division champions. Wood ends his time with Union having scored 17 goals in the season.

Terrence Boyd has been out for a long period as he continues to recover from a serious knee injury, but his team RB Leipzig will be moving up to the Bundesliga despite losing their final game of the season 1-0 to MSV Duisburg.

Fabrice Picault played the final nine minutes of the game as St. Pauli beat Kaiserslautern 5-2. The team finish in fourth place in the standings and will most likely be favorites for promotion next season.

Andrew Wooten started as Sandhausen suffered a 3-0 loss to Greuther Fürth. The team finished in 13th place.

Shawn Barry dressed but did not play in FSV Frankfurt's 2-1 over 1860 Munich. Despite the win, the team finished in 17th place which will see them drop down to the third division.
