Aron Johannsson played an active part as AZ rolled over RKC Waalwijk at home on Sunday.

AZ 4 - 0 RKC Waalwijk

Although he failed to score himself, Aron Johannsson notched his fourth assist of the season and was extremely involved for AZ as they trampled RKC Waalwijk at AFAS Stadium on Sunday.

The hosts took an early lead through Jeffrey Gouweleeuw. Nemanja Gudelj's cross bounced through the penalty area, where Gouweleeuw was waiting at the back post. The defender took one touch before sending a shot through RKC keepers Jan Seda's legs, taking the lead for AZ in the ninth minute.

AZ stretched their lead to 2 - 0 in the 20th minute, with another defender finding the back of the net.

Nick Viergever came streaking into the penalty area, then laid a pass back to Johannsson, whose shot was parried by Seda right back to Viergever, who just needed to tap it in at the left post to give AZ the two goal lead.

Johannsson demonstrated some nice dribbling ability at the edge of the penalty area before laying off a pass for Steven Berghuis. Berghuis then blew by his defender on the right side of the box before firing a shot from an acute angle into the left side of the net to make it 3 - 0.

Berghuis completed the rout in the 59th minute, spinning a sublime left-footed finish over the outstretched hands of Seda, grabbing his second goal of the day and sixth of the season.

AZ are off until next Saturday when they face Heracles in the Eredivisie.

Helmond Sport 1 - 1 Sparta Rotterdam

Charles Kazlauskas continued his run of playing every minute so far this season for Helmond on Friday, as they tied at home with Sparta Rotterdam.

Emilio Samsey gifted Helmond the lead in the first half. The Dutch defender, playing just his third game of the season, clattered Andreas Luckermans in the penalty area, prompting referee Edwin van de Graaf to award a penalty. Davy Brouwers stepped up to take the spot kick and buried it for his 14th goal of the season, making it 1 - 0 in the 30th minute.

Sparta took the initiative in the second half, and their persistence paid off in stoppage time. Mimoun Mahi beat Helmond keeper Wouter van der Steen with a free kick from 20 yards out, rescuing a deserved point for the visitors.

With the tie, Sparta stay at ninth in the Eerste Divisie while Helmond remain at 10th. Kazlauskas and his teammates are in action next Friday against Stichting MVV in another battle between two teams locked in the middle of the Eerste Divisie standings.

Notes

Juan Agudelo didn't get off the bench for Utrecht as they battled to a 1 - 1 tie against FC Twente on Sunday.

Dion Watson made the gameday squad for Fortuna Sittard, but failed to make an appearance in their 1 - 1 tie against Dordrecht.
