CHAVARRI INKS SAN SIMON DEAL
EXTRA TIME
BRIAN SCIARETTA - Wednesday, January 15, 2014
After becoming the first American to play in Iran's Pro League, Diego Chavarri has returned to Peru and has signed with newly promoted San Simon.

Chavarri, 24, was born in New York City but has lived most of his life in Peru. He came up through Sporting Cristal but moved onto Cobresol, Sport Huancayo, and Union Comercio before heading to Iran to play for Gostaresh Foolad.

Based in the southern city of Moquegua, San Simon is coming off the heels of a solid year in 2013 where it won the Copa Peru and secured promotion to the Peruvian Primera. Winning the Copa was the club's first major trophy in its 31 years old history.
