United States men's national team captain Clint Dempsey has sealed a two-month loan deal with English Premier League side Fulham, the team announced on Tuesday.

The deal will see the Texas native make a return to the Cottagers who first him signed from Major League Soccer's New England Revolution back in January 2007. Dempsey spent five and a half seasons with the team, scoring 60 goals in all competitions, before moving to fellow London side Tottenham Hotspur in the August 2012 transfer window.

"Welcome back Clint, and a Merry Christmas to one and all," Fulham posted on its Twitter account.

Dempsey could see his first action for the team on January 1 when Fulham take on West Ham United. Fulham are currently in 19th place, having only earned 13 points from 17 games played this season.

The current Seattle Sounder player will not only be looking to help the 2010 UEFA Europa League finalist to pull themselves out of the relegation zone, he will also use the two months to maintain his fitness and regain sharpness ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil next summer.
