Brad Friedel and Tottenham lost to Newcastle United, while Geoff Cameron's Stoke City drew with Swansea City in a thriller.
Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Newcastle United
Brad Friedel and Tottenham went down to Newcastle United at Whitehart Lane.
Freidel played the full ninety minutes in place of the injured Hugo Lloris. The former US national team star recorded three saves in the match.
Newcastle grabbed the lead in the 13th minute as Yoan Gouffran found Loic Remy who rounded Friedel and slotted home.
For the rest of the match, Spurs dominated possession but were unable to beat Newcastle ‘keeper Tim Krul who managed 14 saves, many of them spectacular.
Spurs fall to 7th place and take on Manchester City on the road next weekend.
Swansea City 3-3 Stoke City
Geoff Cameron and Stoke City came from behind to tie Swansea City.
The American defender went the distance, while Maurice Edu and Brek Shea did not dress for the Potters.
Stoke were up at the half thanks to goals from Jonathan Walters and Stephen Ireland, however 3 straigh goals from Wilfried Bony, Nathan Dyer, and Wilfried Bony gave Swansea the advantage going into the final minutes of the match.
The Potters equalized in the dying moments of the game when a hand ball in the box led to a penalty that Charlie Adam was able to bury into the back of the net.
Stoke, in 17th place and just goal differential ahead of the drop zone, take on Sunderland next weekend.
Aston Villa 2-0 Cardiff City
Brad Guzan and Aston Villa notched an important victory over Cardiff City at home.
Guzan played the full game and recorded 2 saves.
Villa had gone four straight games without a goal, but Saturday's second half marked the end of that drought.
Leandro Bacuna scored from a free kick in the 76th minute and Libor Kozak headed home in the 84th minute to give Villa their first victory since September.
Villa takes the field in two weeks again when they take on West Bromwich Albion.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Everton
Tim Howard and Everton missed a chance to climb the standings as they drew with lowly Crystal Palace on the road.
Howard went the distance and recorded 2 saves in the match.
Despite the teams' league standings this season, it was Palace that played the stronger game and came close to notching all three points.
However, the American ‘keeper helped preserve a point for the Toffees.
Howard's biggest save in the game came in the 38th minute when Jerome Thomas' curler was impressively saved by the American international.
Everton is in 6th place and take on Liverpool next in the Merseyside derby.
Bolton Wanderers 3-1 Millwall
Tim Ream starred in Bolton's victory over Millwall at the Reebok Stadium.
Ream played the full ninety minutes in Bolton's win.
Robert Hall opened the scoring for Bolton in the 5th minute, however Jermaine Easter leveled in the 28th minute for the visitors.
The American defender then provided a perfect pass to Jermaine Beckford who then found the back of the net in the 43rd minute to give Bolton the lead.
Andre Moritz added an insurance goal in the 89th minute for the Wanderers.
Bolton is now in 17th place and take on Watford next.
Middlesbrough 2-2 Watford
Seb Hines played 86 minutes in Middlesbrough's draw with Watford.
Hines started and was subbed out late in the second half for George Friend.
Boro opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a goal from Albert Adomah, but goals from Troy Deeney in the 32nd minute and Fernando Forestieri in the 73rd minute gave the road team the lead late.
However, Daniel Ayala rescued Boro a point with a 93rd minute header.
Boro is in 16th place and take on Leeds United next.
Jozy Altidore played the final 13 minutes in Sunderland's shock victory over Manchester City.
Eric Lichaj played the final 15 minutes in Nottingham Forest's win over Leicester City. Zak Whitbread did not dress for the Foxes.
Danny Williams did not make the game day roster in Reading's draw with Queens Park Rangers. Oguchi Onyewu did not dress for QPR.
Jonathan Spector and Will Packwood did not dress in Birmingham City's loss to Huddersfield Town. Duane Holmes made the roster but did not feature for Huddersfield.
Jon Paul Pittman did not feature in Wycombe's draw with Crewe Alexandra.
