RECAP: ANDERLECHT 3 - 1 LEUVEN
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
MICHAEL ADUBATO - Monday, November 4, 2013
In a game that provided almost as many red cards as goals, Anderlecht won their third league game in a row behind goals from Sacha Kljestan and Aleksandar Mitrovic in Brussels.

Kljestan started the game in the Belgian capital and put in a 65 minute shift before being relieved by 16 year old 
Youri Tielemans. The American made the most of his time on the field by lighting up the scoreboard three minutes before the intermission after Demy de Zeeuw was denied by the post and Brazilian defender Robson denied a half decent Massimo Bruno effort. This was Kljestan's seventh strike of the season, translating to a goal every other game.

Aleksandar Mitrovic found the back of the net two minutes after his American colleague gave Anderlecht the lead, with defender Anthony Vanden Borre providing the pass for the assist.

Things got a bit ugly in the second half and it was Vanden Borre who was booked in the 62nd minute. The visitors then got themselves back into the game in the 69th minute when Olivier Deschacht handled the ball in the box and Mohamed Messoudi
converted.

After a yellow card for Leuven's Evariste Ngolok in the 78th minutes, his team mate Tom Petterson was shown a straight red after a horrible tackle on Vanden Borre a couple of minutes later. The young Serbian, Mitrovic then put the game to bed on the NHL style power-play in the 81st minute when all he had to do was tap in the ball served up by his French team mate Fabrice N'Sakala.

Ngolok was then shown his second yellow for the sending off five minutes before stoppage time, followed a few minutes later by Vanden Borre's second yellow of the game. All the damage was however done by this time and the defending champions picked up all the points.

With the win and other results, les Mauves now share third place with Zulte-Waregem with 28 points apiece. Standard Liege are still in the top spot (30 points) and Genk (29 points) in second. Anderlecht will face stiff competition next weekend when they travel to Genk, but before then they have to face PSG and Zlatan Ibrahimović down in Paris tomorrow night in Champions League action
